The Mainland

England, located in the United Kingdom, is the Mainland of Sodor.

Location[]

The Mainland is located across the Walney Channel from Sodor and is accessed via the Vicarstown Bridge. Barrow-in-Furness is the nearest mainland town to Sodor.

Named Locations[]

It is often just referred to as the Mainland, however certain places have been mentioned by name in the television series. These include:

London (Euston, King's Cross, Paddington and St. Pancras stations; The Eight Famous Engines; King's Cross seen in Railway Trip, Part 2)

Engines[]

Numerous engines have come from or worked on the Mainland, including Jinty, Pug, Stepney, Flying Scotsman, Diesel, The Diesel, Spencer, Connor, Caitlin, Samson, Logan and Sam

Appearances[]

The Mainland has made numerous appearances in the Railway Series. In the television series, Crovan's Gate was used as a station on the mainland in Last Train for Christmas. It is also seen whenever the Vicarstown Bridge appears. Also, the Steelworks was around on the mainland in Railway Trip in which the final race took place for Rails Around the Globe and Hiro, Sarah Zen Missile, and Hubert Hitchhiker held prisoner in the steelworks. Then, Thomas and his Steam Team friends, Whiff, Flynn, Belle, Victor, Kevin, and Edgar fight the Lemons and had Hiro confront Sir Jack Bluebell and to turn the bomb off. Professor B, Sir Jack Bluebell, and the rest of the lemons were arrested.
